Stress in Pregnancy: does timing matter?

How does stress during pregnancy influence a baby’s developing capacity to regulate emotions? This world-first study uses real-time app-based tracking, wearable heart-rate monitoring and advanced statistical modelling to map maternal stress across pregnancy. By identifying sensitive windows when stress may matter most, the project aims to inform earlier, better support for māmā and pēpi, with long-term benefits for child mental health and whānau wellbeing.

Progress to date

We will be up and running by October. If you’re pregnant (or trying) and interested in taking part, email keamail@aut.ac.nz
